Job Description
As Desalination Plant Operator your responsibility is to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the resort's desalination plant. As an ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in water treatment processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform maintenance and monitoring tasks to ensure uninterrupted water supply. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, adherence to safety protocols, and maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plant Operations: Monitoring and operating the desalination plant systems to ensure optimal performance and water quality. Adjusting equipment settings and controls to maintain required operational parameters. Conducting routine inspections of plant equipment, including pumps, valves, and filtration systems, to ensure proper functioning.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting plant equipment to minimize downtime. Identifying and repairing mechanical and electrical faults within the desalination system. Coordinating with the engineering team to schedule major repairs and ensure timely completion.
- Water Quality Monitoring: Testing water samples to ensure compliance with quality standards and reporting any anomalies. Recording and analyzing water treatment data to track plant performance and identify areas for improvement. Ensuring proper chemical dosing and monitoring chemical inventory levels.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate logs of plant operations, maintenance activities, and water quality results. Preparing daily reports on plant performance and submitting them to the Duty Engineer. Reporting any operational issues or equipment malfunctions promptly to the engineering team.
- Safety and Compliance: Following all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Conducting routine safety inspections and participating in safety drills as required. Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and water treatment standards.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in desalination plant operations or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and water treatment systems.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with water treatment processes, reverse osmosis systems, and chemical dosing.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Communication: Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Attend to any faults and breakdowns of electrical equipment, wiring installations, and fixtures in all rooms and public areas, as well as respond to fire alarm faults, fires reported by reception, and breakdowns of major equipment such as generators, STP, and desalination plants. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain records of electrical parts used during repairs and communicate with the Engineering Supervisor for parts ordering. Check all logbooks to ensure proper documentation of maintenance requests and materials used, and report any major operational issues to the Engineering Supervisor or Assistant Chief Engineer. Attend duties punctually as per the duty roster and assist engineering crews as needed. Training and Compliance: Attend the regular morning briefing with the Assistant Chief Engineer/Director of Engineering and participate in monthly fire hydrant exercises. Additionally, attend all job-oriented training conducted by the Engineering Department and HR, ensuring cleanliness around the electrical workshop and job sites. Prioritize safety at all times when performing duties and assist engineering crews in times of emergency or natural disasters.
