Job Summary
The CNC Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine and is responsible for maintaining part quality, safety standards & company equipment's.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITY & AUTHORITY
- Follow all safety rules and policies provided by NOV.
- Produce/Machine threaded Connections & parts as per the provided drawing and program.
- Inspect and verify that each thread & part is generated as per the provided specification.
- Follow all the guidelines provided by the Superintendent.
- Maintain a neat and dean working environment.
- Responsible for all company equipment's care, use, and protection. Know, understand, and follow all company and department safety rules.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
- Perform job duties accurately and responsibly. Verify part and work order.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments.
- Study First article parts, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to Machining products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
- Math Skills: Good math skills will help CNC machinists understand complex instructions, work schematics, and ensure items are designed and built correctly.
- Problem-Solving Skills: CNC machinists will need to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output, and how to fix errors.
- Attention to Detail: CNC machinists will work with precision equipment. Being off by millimeters & Inches (Thousandth of an inch.) could be a critical error. Keen attention to detail is required.
- Mechanical and Technical Skills: Machines controlled by computers will need operators who understand CAD/CAM technology.
- Stamina: CNC machinists often work long hours doing repetitive movements.
- Conceptual Skills: Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Tooling, Coordination, Attention to Detail, and Judgment.
Qualifications (Education/No. of Years of Experience)
- Industrial / Manufacturing Diploma post-High School or vocational training courses in mechanical engineering with 2 years of experience.
- Work experience in Turner, Machinist, and Fitter trades.
- Experience with:
- DMG – Beta & Gamma
- Mazak Machines (ST450, STN500/550M),
- ROMI Machine (M33, M43),
- Doosan (Puma700LM, DBC130L).
- Oil & Gas experience in the manufacturing field.
Skills, Training, Special Knowledge, and/or Language Skills
- Candidate must be familiar with operating a CNC machine, on Rotatory Shoulder Connections (API, Grant Prideco, Tenaris, Vam, etc.) and HWDP (Drill pipe, Drill Collars, and Drill Stem Components).
