About the Role
As the Director of Sales at IHG, you will lead the top sales and marketing function for our hotel in Kuwait City. This is the top sales and marketing job in a full or limited service hotel and may include managing meeting space and/or catering facilities. You will manage professional level and administrative sales team members while driving revenue growth and brand reputation.
People Management
- Manage everyday activities, plan and assign work ensuring you always have the right staffing numbers
- Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback
- Create performance and development goals for colleagues and recognize good performance
- Train colleagues to make sure they deliver with compliance and to the standards we expect
- Recommend or initiate any HR-related actions where needed
- Drive a great working environment for teams to thrive and connect departments to create a sense of one team
Financial
- Hit all personal/team sales goals and maximize profitability
- Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals
- Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, hotel marketing plan, business plan, and financial plans
- Create and implement sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, and grow F&B and banquet sales
- Produce monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current and potential market trends
- Coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share
Guest Experience
- Help guests with any requests or complaints
- Provide guests with information about loyalty programs, area attractions, restaurants, and facilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and outside contacts to produce group and convention business
- Schedule conventions and business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other departments
Responsible Business
- Raise the awareness and reputation of your hotel and the brand locally
- Identify improvements to marketing activities and overall hotel sales performance
- Support ad-hoc duties when teams need to pull together to get a task done

The mandate is deliberately weighted towards controllership and financial reporting: designing the close, the chart of accounts, the reporting pack and the control framework correctly the first time, so that Kuwait scales without accumulating reporting debt.Key Responsibilities1. Financial reporting and controllership (primary focus)Own the Kuwait books: Full accountability for the general ledger, chart of accounts, accounting manual and month-end close for the Kuwait entity, aligned to Group policy and the group accounting platform.Deliver the monthly close: Run a disciplined close calendar with defined cut-offs, task ownership and dependencies; deliver the Kuwait reporting pack to Group Finance on the group timetable, complete with variance commentary and balance sheet substantiation.Statutory financial statements: Prepare the Kuwait statutory financial statements and notes to a publication standard, including Arabic-language reconciliation where required, statutory reserve transfers under the Kuwait Companies Law, and full cross-reference, casting and footing checks before issue.Group consolidation: Ensure Kuwait reports cleanly into the group consolidation — intercompany reconciliation and settlement, transfer pricing support, related-party disclosure, and consistent application of group accounting policies.Reconciliations and substantiation: Own a complete reconciliation framework: bank and payment-service provider settlement, receivables subledger to GL, merchant payables, collections and recoveries, and suspense clearing with ageing and escalation of unresolved items.2.
