Individual will be responsible for and possess the desired experience in the installation, testing, and repair of the IGX tactical communication package (TCP). The individual shall be responsible for the O & M of the communications lines, trunking, cabling and switching systems associated with the IGX. The technician shall be responsible for the O & M of systems, modules, cabinets, processors, circuit cards, and power supplies, peripheral and ancillary equipment to include cabling, wiring, plugs and adapters. The technician shall be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, routine and demand maintenance procedures for the REDCOM IGX Switch. The IGX Technician shall be responsible for providing telephone services to all customers serviced by the switch. Program: OMDAC-SWACA

You must satisfy all host country requirements to legally work in the host country in order to be qualified for this position.

Responsibilities

  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall be responsible for performing all service orders (SEVORD) on the switch.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall perform all telephone systems administration, operations, maintenance, and services IAW the OEM manual.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall be responsible for performing patch programming changes, and telephone prefix and area code updates.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall be responsible for performing the required troubleshooting of the switch and ancillary devices to correct trouble by any mechanical or programming task and/or parts replacement required to restore service.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall perform remote diagnostics as required, parts and materials replacement, emergency technical assistance, and technical documentation updates.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) may be required to coordinate with local exchange carriers to correct trouble on the commercial path, or to add a new service or to upgrade and existing service.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall be required to coordinate with the RNOSC for DOD network compliance procedures and/or the implementation of telecommunication service orders.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall participate in performance assessment, evaluations, training, and preparations for US Military contingency operations. And provide responses to inspection reports.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall be responsible for maintaining logs, cable records and a telephone database.
  • The Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) shall be responsible for verifying customer service, and complete reports and records.
  • Working environment will be 90% office and 10% working with Outside Plant personnel.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

 

Education/Certifications: High school diploma required or GED required.

 

Experience: All Telephone Switch Technician I (IGX) technicians shall have at least five years

experience in telephone systems and have completed a certified course of instruction on the general operations and maintenance of the REDCOM IGX Switch system.
