POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Landscape Site Architect is expected to carry out the responsibilities specified below and as delegated to him by the Resident Engineer.  The Landscape Site Architect provides support and assistance to the Resident Engineer during project construction and receives support and assistance from Project Execution Design Team.

 

  1. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in performing the contractual duties on site.
  • Supervises of landscape and irrigation projects as well as soft and hard landscape works.
  • Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site. 
  • Coordinates process with other disciplines.
  • Assists with selection of native plants appropriate their locality, exposure, aspects, soil, and landscape desires. 
  • Performs all aspects of garden installation, including hardscape, irrigation, and plant placement.
  • Reviews shop drawing, Material submittal, Method statement, RFI response and As Built Drawing.
  • Reviews technical submittal related to soft landscaping & hard landscape works.
  • Prepares and presents work progress reports on daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • (If required) participates in landscaping design review and with design approving agencies including technical expertise in soft & hard landscaping works.
  • Maintains records for activities on site including progress photos and ensure they are readily available for inspection as and when required.
  • Prepares Surveillance Report(s) for deficiencies of work found at site that are believed to have failed or if the contractor is not complying with verbal instructions and subsequently complete a Non-Conformance Report (NCR) if required in view of the development of events. 
  • (if required) Designs irrigation system for landscape projects. 
  • Advise the project manager of any technical aspects that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
  • Continually review the contractor’s construction schedule during the progress of site works.
  • Hands on in monitoring the landscape works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents and the procedures manual.
  • Reviewing, and processing all relevant shop drawings and technical submittals. 
  • Monitors procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline. 
  • Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the works for Contractor’s adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant’s specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
  • Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed materials as may be deemed necessary by the Project Manager.
  • Lead the snagging and de-snagging process with an aim to progress the works to completion through this process.
  • Attend project, site progress and any related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
  • Prepare draft site / engineer’s instructions, relating to the project, as required and issue to the Project Manager.
  • Provide advice to the Project Manager in regard to any variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
  • Oversee junior staff members for all landscape work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
  • Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used and monitors it for improvement.
  • Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees. 
  • Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current re vision level and correct technical execution of the work. 
  • Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests as required.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. 

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Degree in Urban Design or Landscape Architecture or related field.
  • 10 years experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to resolve design issues on site.
  • BIM360 skills desirable.
  • Good knowledge of the building codes desirable.
  • Cost estimation.
  • Construction supervision
  • Technical review of project documents
  • Project execution
  • Irrigation, Soft & Hard landscaping
  • Regional experience is preferred.
  • Authority registration is preferred.
  • A professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
  • UAE Driving Licence
