Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.

Responsibilities

Assess and identify patients’ needs and implement and monitor the
patient’s medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of
physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various
settings
• Perform systematic patient assessment and collect pertinent data about
the patient’s health or situation.
• Understand and analyze the assessment information and data
• Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues
• Define the predicted and expected outcomes of the patient’s planned
care
• Create and evaluate patient care plans with the medical team
• Record vital signs, recognize and address abnormalities
• Define the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, patients,
and families.
• Maintain and update the technical and clinical skills related to nursing
practice
• Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.
• Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams
• Perform essential life support (BLS
• Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment
• Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and
reactions
• Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor
patients for any reactions
• Provide wound care management
• Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed
• Facilitate the process of safe patient`s admission and discharge.
• Monitors vital signs of mother and fetus throughout the delivery phase
and initiate fetal heart monitor, performs vaginal exams, interpret fetal
heart tones and determine frequency duration and intensity of
contractions
• Monitor progress of laboring mothers, interpret fetal heart monitor and
notify physician when appropriate for progress or problems.
• Assist mother with breathing exercises, pain management techniques
and administer pain medication as ordered.
• Predominant role in preparation, administration and documentation of
medications
• Prepare birthing room for delivery using strict sterile technique.
• Prepare mothers for elective or emergency Cesarean Section by
following written C-Section preoperative orders of the physician. Provide
emotional support to mother, obtain proper consents and pre-op
diagnostic studies and coordinate smooth transfer to surgery if indicated

Assist physician in artificial rupture of membranes, initiation of internal
fetal monitoring or intrauterine pressure catheter, initiation of Pitocin drip
or other IV medications, sterile vaginal exams or other procedures.
• Assist anesthetist with the administration of spinal or epidural anesthetic
and thereafter maintaining proper documentation of the same.
• Perform post-partum care and provide health education to mother: check
lochia, episiotomy and fundus, provide instruction in child care, breast
feedings and self-care to mother, monitor vital signs per policy, and
report problems to physician.
• Maintains and updates all relevant patient documentations/medical
records as per hospital policy and procedures

Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply with those requirements. • Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures. • Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports. • Comply with Waste management procedures and policies. • Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs. • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems

Qualifications

Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory
health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualification and experience this
mandates.
• Manage their own professional revalidation
• Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months)
• Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed
• Be willing to work across departments when necessary
• Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and
written)
