Your new role, what’s involved?

  1. Material Selection: Collaborate with design engineers to select appropriate materials for specific applications based on performance requirements, cost considerations, and environmental factors.
  2. Material Characterization: Conduct material testing and analysis, including mechanical testing, chemical analysis, and microscopy, to assess material properties and behavior.
  3. Materials Development: Research, develop, and test new materials or processes to improve performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
  4. Process Optimization: Optimize manufacturing processes to enhance material properties, reduce defects, and improve production efficiency.
  5. Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure the consistency and reliability of materials used in production.
  6. Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers to evaluate material specifications, resolve quality issues, and identify opportunities for innovation and cost savings.
  7. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that materials and processes comply with relevant regulatory standards, industry specifications, and safety requirements.
  8. Problem Solving: Investigate material-related problems or failures, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  9. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material specifications, test results, and process parameters. Prepare reports and documentation to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction through material substitution, process optimization, and innovation.
