Job Summary:

Ensure implementation of drilling and completion of operations activities on the drilling rig, including planning, organization, coordination, and management of all parties involved.

.Duties and Responsibilities:

Managerial Duties:

  • Implement the section’s policies, goals, objectives, and procedures and support their development as needed.
  • Oversee the implementation of operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans.

Technical Duties:

  • Conduct site visit and collect information regarding site needed for the preparation of geotechnical investigation report, including accessibility, boreholes location, and ground levels.
  • Ensure clearance of sites from underground services.
  • Supervise all drilling activities on-site and ensure they are carried out in accordance with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate with client’s site representatives on day-to-day site activities progress.
  • Carry out the in-site geological descriptions of encountered materials as necessary.
  • Ensure proper identification of field samples and their transportation to the laboratory in a secure manner and avoid damage and contamination during the transportation.
  • Supervise and/or perform field testing according to the standards and technical procedures including but not limited to permeability, packer, HPD, etc.
  • Provide all logistics required for the drilling crews on sites to perform their jobs in accordance to related standards and specifications in coordination with the Manager of Operations Section.
  • Ensure the suitability of the drilling tools for the intended purpose.
  • Report to the Sites Coordination & Planning Geologist on any maintenance and servicing needs of drill rigs and drilling tools as needed.
  • Follow-up the maintenance of drilling equipment and tools.
  • Follow up on the implementation of the field safety regulations and protection measures.
  • Plan and program site investigation works including overcoming all difficulties to start works.
  • Supervise borehole, test pits, and excavation sides logging and classification and description of the obtained ground samples.
  • Organize records and files for different planned and ongoing projects, including different types of incoming & outgoing correspondences, project specifications, and drawings, daily drillers logs (daily drilling progress and equipment conditions report), lab test forms, etc.
  • Any duties or responsibilities assigned by the management.

Reporting To:

This position will directly report to the Geotechnical Operations Section Head.

Direct Reports:

Senior Drillers, Drillers, Assistant Drillers and Labors.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor or Diploma Degree in Geology or any related field
  • 8 years of experience in the same field

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Field Testing.
  • Operational Maintenance.
  • Fundamentals Mathematics, calculations, Statistics, and Data Analysis.
  • Application of Fundamentals of Geotechnical Engineering Sciences
  • Proficiency in performing Geotechnical Field testing and/ or Geotechnical Laboratory Testing
  • Proficiency in Performing Geotechnical Drilling
  • Analysis and Reporting of Results of Geotechnical & Site Investigation
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Excellent Reporting Skills, Technical Writing and Reading
  • Excellent knowledge in Health, Safety, and Environment
