As a Front End Development Manager (FEDM) you will be accountable for the overall day to day Technical management of the Opportunities / Projects to successfully realise maximum value for Shell and stakeholders. You will lead a natural integrated technical team to deliver products and be accountable for delivering all technical work required to support the Growth opportunities through key milestones. The FEDM will assist the Growth FEDM in delivering scope of the overall technical maturation work for specific projects/opportunities through identify and assess phases by integrating subsurface, wells, surface, and supporting commercial efforts across the entire project/opportunity until Exploration to Development handover and subsequent Decision Gates. He/She will also support the development of rapid appraisal plans and if requested, transition into an appraisal or development FEDM role in case of exploration success. In addition to the Gas Growth opportunities, the FEDM will support maturation of CCS activities linked to blue hydrogen. He/She will support project delivery of CCS workscope and ensure that all Low carbon H2 requirements are integrated as part of the full low carbon value chain. He/She, will engage with critical internal and external stakeholders, partners including MEM/PDO/OQGN as required to allow for maturation of this project.  This position will report to the General Manager Development & Subsurface Team.

 

Accountabilities

Develop comprehensive roadmaps and coordinate execution of fully integrated technical work plans for the opportunities, inclusive of all contributions irrespective of organization.

Integrating, monitoring, and disseminating technical work for all staff contributing to the project including Subsurface, Wells and Surface. The coordination and delivery of integrated kick-off sessions, opportunity framing and opportunity assurance plans.

Supports delivery of key project deliverables, including OAP, PCAP, Risk Register and Management Plan, Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Impact Assessment, Project Schedule and Cost Estimate.

Coordinates Assurance Review Process including setting-up Peer Assists, ITRs, VARs and Decision Gates as required.

Working closely with the Growth FEDM on key non-technical and overall project level deliverables and assumptions such as the project premises, Sustainable Development (SD) Strategy, Venture Implementation etc.·           

Assists / advises opportunity BOM(s)/DE(s) and Management on updates to current projects and improvement initiatives status and projections.

Ensures risk register and mitigation plan for technical issues is fully comprehensive and up to date.

Represents overall project status to stakeholders as required.

Finding the most competitive technical solution for the opportunity by combining asset owner’s needs and desires with the best Shell has to offer in terms of technology, standardization, innovation and development planning and project management ·      

Leveraging all expertise available in Shell by working a large network of PTE’s, SME’s and other expertise holders across Shell.       

Ensure that the technical work is performed in accordance with Shell’s ORP practices and that projects incorporate PT2025 initiatives and are competitively scoped ·         

Ensuring key study results / project decisions are properly documented, signed off, and retained in compliance to the Rules framework.     

Contributing to and applies standard / common processes and tools developed with the broader global FEDM community.

Technically complex opportunities with accelerated time lines. 

Dealing with uncertainty, ambiguity and conflicting priorities across organizations.

Effectively influencing work across multiple contributing organizations without direct line of authority.

Stakeholder relationships to align on common project/program goals and achieve seamless project maturation.

Managing stakeholder expectation proposing fit-for-purpose yet credible solutions 

 

What we need from You

A senior technical background, preferably in one of the Development and Subsurface disciplines.

Only open for Omani nationals

Minimum Qualified University Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Geology or equivalent sciences.

15+ years’ experience in a wide variety of upstream development roles with proven front end development experience.

Can demonstrate a successful track record of integrated technical leadership and competencies aligned to the requirements for FEDM level 3 as defined in the FEDM Job Competency

Candidates should demonstrate a commercial, value creation and protection mind-set, with a drive for cross-functional integration and risk management

Strong team player with corresponding inter-personal skills. 

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) able to meet requirements of a range of senior internal and external stakeholders

Highly developed skills in stakeholder and relationship management, influencing and negotiation

Strong Leadership and People Management skills with ability to communicate and working in natural teams.

High degree of achievement drive and initiative.
