Book Designer – SCA

We are seeking a talented and creative Book Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of typography, and the ability to translate written content into visually appealing designs. This role involves working closely with authors, editors, and other design professionals to create book covers and interiors that captivate readers and enhance the reading experience.

**Key Responsibilities**:

1. **Book Cover Design**:

– Conceptualize and create original book cover designs that reflect the genre, theme, and tone of the book.

– Collaborate with authors and editors to incorporate feedback and make revisions as needed.

– Ensure that cover designs meet industry standards and publisher requirements.

2. **Interior Layout**:

– Design and format the interior layout of books, including text, images, and other graphical elements.

– Ensure readability and visual appeal while maintaining consistency with the book’s theme and style.

– Prepare files for print and digital publication, ensuring high-quality output.

3. **Collaboration and Communication**:

– Work closely with the editorial team, authors, and other designers to understand project requirements and deliver on creative briefs.

– Participate in project meetings and brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas and solutions.

– Maintain clear and effective communication throughout the design process.

4. **Quality Control**:

– Review and proof all designs to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.

– Stay updated on the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve the quality of work.

5. **Project Management**:

– Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality designs.

– Keep detailed records of project progress, revisions, and approvals.

**Qualifications**:

– Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.

– Proven experience as a book designer or in a similar role.

– Proficiency in design software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

– Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of book design projects.

– Excellent understanding of typography, color theory, and layout principles.

– Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

– Good communication and interpersonal skills.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

– Experience with eBook design and digital publishing platforms.

– Knowledge of printing processes and pre-press preparation.

– Familiarity with current design trends and industry best practices.

– Can create original logos.
