Job Description
- Develop and maintain a learning culture amongst nurses, particularly in the specialist field in which they work
- Be a role model and always seek to improve the safety and quality of care delivered to patients in the specialist field.
- Work with newborn infants across the continuum to support primary, acute, chronic, and critical care to neonates and infants suffering from various a problem such as premature infants and those with congenital disabilities.
- Understand aspects of testing the cognitive development of newborn.
- Perform neonatal screening.
- Conduct examinations, record patient histories, monitor patient progress and consult with treating physicians.
- Support mothers and families to select an effective care plan for the patients.
- Monitor the health of infants directly after birth.
- Educate new parents about breastfeeding and the care of their child.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions
- Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions
- Employ strategies to promote patients’ health and a safe environment.
- Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory exams.
- Perform essential life support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

Qualifications
- Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH) with all the qualifications and experience this mandates.
- Have previous experience within the specialist field.
- Have completed the relevant competencies within the specialist field (see section below)
- Manage their own professional revalidation
- Have basic life support qualification (within the past 24 months)
- Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)
- Desirable but not mandatory to have a postgraduate qualification in the specialist field.
- Desirable but not mandatory to be able to communicate effectively in Arabic
