Web Services Specialist

The Web Services Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and managing complex websites (Internet & Intranet) and Alfaisal University applications. Participate fully in web-based projects that support high-level university goals and initiatives related, but not limited to Alfaisal Departments.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Trains, advises, and consults with various personnel regarding Web page design, development, and maintenance; assists users with the development and delivery of instructional materials and methods for the web.
• Coordinates the maintenance and updating of existing Web pages, checks and maintains links, monitors Websites for consistency, cross-referencing, and complies with university standards for Web site content and design.
• Writes advanced web authoring code, designing, or integrating graphics and databases for Alfaisal University’s website (s).
• Keeps abreast of the latest hardware and software needed to maintain Alfaisal University’s website(s) continually.
• Ensures Internet and Intranet web site content is consistent with Alfaisal University’s educational mission and objectives.
• Designs Websites to maximize accessibility, usability, and effectiveness; utilizes search engines and maximizes users’ ability to ensure accuracy of information and images.
• Integrates database and application software into website design to increase site effectiveness, gathers organizes and disseminates incoming data and information.
• Contributes to policy development and creation of online Web strategies to enhance Alfaisal University’s profile and reputation and to support educational program areas.
• Provides Web advice and expertise to internal departments and school administrators to support institutional and educational goals, objectives, plans, and strategies.
• Designs Web page text and visual content, navigational links, and page layout using HTML, Dynamic HTML, PHP, Java, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Perl, or Common Gateway Interface (CGI), etc.
• Implements the initiatives of Alfaisal University related to its web sites (Internet & Intranet).
• Monitors Internet technological trends as they relate to education.
• Establishes and consistently meets/exceeds unit service goals and objectives.
• Performs all duties in a professional, component, and confidential manner.
• Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent from an accredited institute.
• Minimum of four (04) years’ experience in information technology organizations or other related fields.
