We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, hardworking and highly motivated, UK qualified Secondary School Physics Teacher to join our Science Department from August 2024. For the right candidate, there is also the option of being appointed as Head of House or Head of Year.

The Science department’s KS3 curriculum follows the Exploring Science Scheme with the Biology, Chemistry and Physics content being taught in blocks. The pupils then follow the International GCSE Edexcel specification. In Year 10 and 11 pupils have the option of choosing two Science disciplines to take at GCSE. Last year, we had our first cohort of Year 11 pupils sitting their i/GCSE examinations. Our curriculum has been designed to match the skills requirements of the AS/A Level qualifications and our aim, mission and vision for the school.

Biology, Chemistry and Physics are all offered at KS5 and follow the Edexcel specification.

Successful applicants must have:

  • A certified UK teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, or PGCE.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Physics.
  • Exceptional subject knowledge, with extensive experience of teaching the British National Curriculum in Key Stages 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
  • Recent experience teaching i/GCSE and AS/A level Biology, Physics or Chemistry (preferably with either Cambridge or Pearson International Examinations).
  • A desire to help build a thriving department.
  • A proven track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of how to differentiate teaching materials so that all pupils have an opportunity to access the curriculum.
  • A willingness to take part in extra-curricular activities after school.

 

Desirable qualities: 

  • An ability to teach a second subject in the Science Department (to i/GCSE level).
  • Experience of teaching pupils with English as an Additional Language or English as a Second Language.
  • Experience of integrating technology into secondary teaching.
  • Experience of, or an understanding of how STEM education can be integrated into the secondary Science curriculum.
  • Recent UK experience and previous international teaching experience.
