JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for: The KS1 Class Teacher is central to the education of children in the Pre-Prep School. This is a demanding and varied role in which the teacher will need to have a genuine love of working with young children, to share in their wonder and to inspire them to greatness. They will need to be flexible with their schedule and able to manage change at short notice with a calmness under pressure. Above all else they will ensure that in all aspects of their work, the needs of the children are the main consideration. Consulting with: All staff. Reporting to: Head of Year, Head of Pre-Prep & Nursery School RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION • To support and promote the school’s ethos, aims and core values in order to promote the welfare, progress and continued development of the school and its children. • As part of the MLT, monitor the quality of planning and teaching and learning across the year group, including the analysis of performance data. • To contribute to the strategic direction and development of the year group, including updating the year group action plan and the development, implementation and monitoring of improvement plans based on year group self-evaluation. • To ensure high standards of teaching and learning, behaviour, attendance and punctuality from pupils, in accordance with agreed school policy and practice • To teach creative, engaging, and outstanding lessons, according to the educational needs of the pupils in his /her allocated class. 4 Brighton College Abu Dhabi – Teacher of KS1 & YGL, August 2024 • To have up to date knowledge and understanding of the British Curriculum for KS1. • To ensure all children make accelerated progress by ensuring you know each child’s next steps through regular formative assessment. • To be fully committed to personal professional development, attending courses and meetings as agreed with the Head of School and generally keeping up to date with new initiatives. • To maintain a professional relationship with both colleagues and parents and to promote the school’s best interests both in and out of working hours. • Such other duties as the Head of Pre-Prep may from time to time require.
