Senior Technical Specialist- Advant Systems

Your role and responsibilities

• In this role, you will be contributing to the development of technical expertise solutions and services. Participating in the creation of technical expertise business strategy. Designing authority across the organization for an engineering discipline(s) with medium to high complexity. Coordinating and facilitating relevant engineering assignments across several projects and within the entire value chain efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. Executing medium to high complex service jobs & projects with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. Delivering excellent customer service to satisfy customers. Proactively communicating with both customer and ABB sales teams ensuring customer needs are un-derstood and business opportunities utilized for penetration and expansion.

• This role is contributing to Process Automation Energy Industries Division in Doha Qatar
• You will be mainly accountable for:
• working independently using solid competency in technologies, tools, and methods determining and developing ways to solve them more effectively. Leading coordination with relevant functions for resolution of technical issues in own area(s) of expertise.
• Creating an engineering design concept/philosophy definition. Acting as a technical lead, ap-proving design deliverables. Defining focus areas/priorities for engineering discipline(s) leading to technological excellence and higher organizational safety performance. Anticipating and solving, crucial issues and/or unique conditions
• Determining offered solutions and product versions, including extent of standard and non-standard solution scope to meet medium to high complexity customer requirements.
• Supporting technical reviews and participating in core technical meetings.
• Working with the customer to shape and delivering solutions and seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements.
• Actively participating in project meetings and resolving any outstanding technical issues to meet contractual obligations.
• Taking a lead role in co-creating and presenting complex technical solutions.
• Coordinating technical support to lead level 3 case management for resolution of technical is-sues.
• Building network internally and externally for exchange of information, best practices and les-sons learned.
• Responsible for technical competency development among colleagues in specific areas of expertise.
• Engaging in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools, and processes.
• Building knowledge-repositories to share best practices lessons-learned documentation across different projects and disciplines.
• Coaching and supporting technical resources in specific area(s) of expertise.
• Identifying and imparting relevant training and qualification needs and competency assurance verification requirements.
• Developing and documenting quality standards, processes, tools, and techniques.
• Ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual re-quirements.
• Contributing towards continuous improvements of processes and tools for engineering efficiency.
• Creating and executing strategies for risk and opportunity management in one’s area of respon-sibility.
• Proposing and initiating actions to mitigate and control risks.
• Proactively coordinating with manufacturing and testing functions to ensure the technical solutions are appropriately manufactured/staged and tested.
• Ensuing the engineering deliverables as built are updated.
• Proactively coordinating with commissioning / service functions ensuring the designs are ap-appropriately installed and commissioned (if applicable as part of the contract).
• Ensuring the engineering deliverables are updated post installation & commissioning (if applicable).

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with minimum 20 years’ experience for Advant legacy system
• Analytical thinker, self-starter, resilient and highly adaptable.
• Proficient and hands on experience in other ABB products like 800xA, AC800M and AC800M HI.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in delivering Advant projects as project Lead.
• You are at ease communicating in English.
