Senior Service Engineer

You will be working as Senior Service Engineer, will be part of Process Automation Business Area for Energy Industries division based in Doha, Qatar. In this role you will be responsible to technically lead all medium to high complex engineering & service activities and ensure all activities related to engineering discipline within the project and services are efficiently and cost effectively executed, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Proactively communicate with both customer and ABB sales teams to ensure customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for penetration and expansion.

Your responsibilities

• Acting as a technical lead, approving design deliverables, reviewing all project / service documents for conformity, safety, and quality assurance, anticipating, and solving crucial issues and/or unique conditions, serving as a specialist in the application of advanced concepts and methods
• Applying design thinking / design for excellence concepts in projects/ services including modelling, proto-typing, simulation, and calculations, utilizing checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines.
• Actively contributing and sharing experiences in workshops pertaining to engineering design, tools and processes, coaching engineering colleagues on the translation of conceptual designs to engineering documentation, best practices and lessons learned from past projects.
• Working with the customer to shape and delivering solutions and seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver improvements, finalizing ‘Fail-Safe Philosophy’ and other key concepts as part of Kick-off and design freeze meetings.
• Participating in projects and service contract meetings and resolving any outstanding technical issues to meet contractual obligations, assisting in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering pro-jects/programs and developing, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures and tools.
• Ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements, reporting processes and tool inefficiencies and suggesting ideas for improvements, assessing, and addressing technical risks and opportunities.
• Reporting any contract / safety / quality / program / cost issues to Project Manager(s) along with recommendations, for resolution, ensuring Bill of Material (BOM) for the project meets contractual obligations and project gross margin requirements by not generating Project Left-Over Material (PLOM)
• Identifying and implementing variation requests to support contract claims based on the approval from Project Manager, creating work plans and cost estimates for the portfolio of projects in consultation with respective Project Managers and ensuring quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost.
• Preparing RFQs to meet contractual requirements and providing technical evaluation of suppliers’ proposals, collaborating with the supply chain function and the Project Manager(s), coordinating with manufacturing and testing functions to ensure the technical solutions are appropriately manufactured/ staged and tested and ensuring the engineering deliverables as built are updated.
• Coordinating with commissioning / service functions to ensure the designs are appropriately installed and commissioned (if applicable as part of the contract), ensuring the engineering deliverables are up-dated post installation and commissioning (if applicable)

Your background

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering
• 10-12 years of experience in Control & Instrumentation field with at least 6 years of experience as customer support / project engineer in system 800xA based Infi 90 & freelance systems preferably in chemical Oil and Gas industry
• Good hands-on experience as project lead for system 800xA based control system (both hardware and software) with Infi90 & freelance -based application development – project & commissioning
• Hands on experience in system installation and maintenance, performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, experience in Industrial networking, network switch and firewall configurations, cyber security solutions for 800x A systems, industrial communication protocols like Modbus- RTU & TCP, OPC
• Able to do cybersecurity audits and assessments, Cyber security implementation experience, be an analytical thinker, self-starter, resilient and highly adaptable- in line with ABB’s latest advance service & digital portfolio
• Fluency in English language is mandatory
