About the role:

Identify through research and benchmarking potential solutions to improve the service and facilities at the airport by addressing shortfalls in  capacities, inefficient operational   processes or by integrating changed processes and systems. Plan, develop and execute new operational concepts and projects for improvements in Hamad International Airport. Support implementation and commissioning of projects as required logistically and coordination wise.

Key responsibilities

  • Define the projects’ requirements and objectives   by preparing a complete description of the existing situation, business needs and benefits for the operations management to decide the priority and feasibility of the project based on the airport’s objectives.

Plan, organize and coordinate using project management tools such as MS Project for capital improvement projects of Hamad International Airport (HIA).

  • Collect, analyse and validate operational data such as the usage frequencies of the facilities and the queuing times through research and day to day operational reports, in order to plan for future changes and improvements.

Implement new processes and changes on airport services and facilities by initiating developments and standard operating procedures that aim at meeting HIA’s operational needs and requirements.

  • Prepare and participate in trial activities and Proof of Concepts PoCs that are part of the introduction of new processes and systems in HIA (example the new self-check-in and self-boarding PoC).
  • Liaise and communicate with all operational partners (Qatar Airways, QAS, MOI, Customs, QCAA, other airlines) regarding the daily operations and on-time performances (OTP) by organizing and attending periodical meetings and workshops in order to ensure safe, punctual and cost-effective operations for all airport and airlines activities.
  • Develop a list of options and proposals for each project by brainstorming and benchmarking, in order to provide a comprehensive range of advanced and innovative solutions based on international guidelines, recommendations and best practices from IATA and other organizations.
  • Organize and plan for the projects’ handover and commissioning by preparing guidelines and project summaries to support the teams that take over the operations of the new installation or the performance of the new procedure.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications

About you:

  • Relevant College or University qualification to min Bachelor’s level or equivalent.

Project management skills; able to deliver tasks with tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrate ability to work without direct supervision (including time management skills) and as part of a team.
