To liaise with the Reservoir Fluids Manager and PVT Lab Technicians to ensure the smooth running of the Calgary PVT Laboratory

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.0 Responsibility and Authority

1.1 To perform PVT and compositional analyses data review and evaluation to ensure a high quality end product.

1.2 Schedule work and deadlines to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner.

1.3 Responsible for turnaround time in laboratory ensuring client’s requirements are met or exceeded.

1.4 Responsible to ensure effective client communication

1.5 Responsible for issue of weekly client status reports.

1.6 Responsible to ensure only high quality PVT lab reports are issued

1.7 Provide for the effective selection, motivation, compensation, and training of personnel.

1.8 Determine equipment and laboratory needs and provide for acquisition.

1.9 Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure that financial targets are met.

1.10 Review PVT lab personnel timecards to ensure all staff are in compliance and report to Reservoir Fluids Manager any discrepancies. 

1.11 Provide a safe, efficient workplace for employees and ensure that all safety infractions are addressed in a timely manner.

1.12 Complies with all health, safety, and quality management system requirement.

 

2.0 Primary Duties

2.1 Remain in constant contact with Reservoir Fluids Manager and PVT Lab Technicians to implement overtime for scheduling of work in meeting both client’s requirements and financial targets.

2.2 Knowledgeable with QA/QC procedures, General Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures and is responsible for ensuring implementation in the lab.

2.3 Ensure that all work is invoiced correctly in a timely manner (ensure that any 3rd party re-bills are included within invoices when applicable).

2.4 Ensure that PVT Lab staff receive any required training and that training records are updated.

2.5 Attend client meetings and provide client presentations where required.

2.6 Must interact with clients to establish objectives, provide technical information, recommend additional testing, resolve problems, relate the status of projects and promote future business.

2.7 Must interact with the technical services group to establish objectives and define requirements of all projects initiated by this group.

2.8 Must interact with sales, attend sales meetings and keep abreast of quotes.  

2.9 Remain knowledgeable of the proper operation, calibration, and maintenance of equipment.

2.10 Provide direct supervision to special jobs to ensure that proper procedures and methodology are followed.

2.11 Establish quality control guidelines in concert with the QA/QC coordinator that are to be utilized in the department to assure accurate analytical results.

2.12 May be required to write technical interpretations for smaller projects that are directly controlled by the supervisor.

2.13 Ensure the quality process is being effectively maintained in the group.

2.14 Perform other assigned duties to ensure that projects are completed on an accurate and timely basis.

2.15 Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are current for his/her department.

2.16 Ensure the quality process and calibration program are effectively maintained within the group.

2.17 Be aware of Quality Assurance in all daily work activities with the clients and report any problem or non-conformance to your manager and/or QA & Safety Supervisor.

 

EDUCATION

Must have a Diploma in Petroleum Sciences or similar

 

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience as a Senior Laboratory Analyst (or equivalent position

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must have completed basic PVTsim course
