Your new role

 We empower product managers to drive the business through delivering products customers love. Our product teams are cross-functional. Our product managers are accountable for ensuring solutions we ship are valuable to the customer and viable for the business. As the Product Manager OntoChem, you will be responsible for scaling and building on the user experience of the OntoChem ontology-based solution SciWalker. At the same time, you will work closely with the Dimensions and ReadCube teams on integrating ontology-based functionalities into the data and web application pipelines, as well as with the Metaphacts team on expanding the semantic search and knowledge graph exploration capabilities. The Product manager will also oversee the development and prioritization of the ontologies along the lines of client and product needs. This role will report to the Director Product Data & Analytics.

Your product remit will also include the following specific products:

  • OntoChem Ontologies as a basis for named-entity recognition
  • OntoChem Processor as the main software tool for high-throughput named-entity recognition.
  • OntoChem SciWalker Search as an on premise / in the cloud Semantic Search interface.
  • Close cooperation with Metaphacts team, deploying the ontologies in the knowledge graph environment, as well as POC on RAG
  • Close collaboration with the Dimensions and ReadCube teams on semantic search and filtering

Due to business need, this role must be based in UK, Germany, Romania or Spain. We are not able to accept applications outside of these counties.

What you’ll be doing

 Execution

  • Scaling and improving the user experience of SciWalker for a number of tiered use cases
  • Collaborate closely with the different product management teams to drive the concept development for ontology-based functionality within other Digital Science products and services-based offerings.
  • Use your strong prioritization and strategic business skills to drive prioritization of the roadmap.
  • Work cross-functionally with development, design, and quality assurance teams to define and deliver ontology-based features and enhancements.
  • Collect feedback from users and stakeholders and manage and prioritize the product backlog.
  • Run POCs/bets on new use cases/opportunities in close collaboration with design and business intelligence teams

Strategy and Business

  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and gather customer feedback to identify market trends and opportunities.
  • Define and communicate a clear product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders, including executives, engineering, sales, and customer success teams.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies related to ontologies and ontology-based functionalities.

Data Analytics & Product Discovery 

  • Use data (qualitative and quantitative) to drive prioritization.
  • Use rapid prototyping and testing where possible to generate knowledge and data to inform decision-making.
  • Conduct regular customer interviews as part of a continuous discovery practice.

Domain knowledge 

  • Act as the subject matter expert in the fields of life science and chemistry.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on ontologies for Digital Science’s AI activities combining generative and symbolic AI
  • Create deep market knowledge of the Corporate space, especially Pharma.

What you’ll bring to the role

  •  Strong product management skills and a proven track record of bringing innovative products to market.
  • Experience in working with solutions in the fields of life science and chemistry.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Proven ability to drive the development and integration of complex functionalities within a web application.
  • A passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (chemistry, biology, life sciences, medicinal chemistry); advanced degree preferred.
