Job Purpose

 

  • HSE Audits to be conducted in  conformance with AkzoNobel norms
  • HSE Training plans conformance
  • Planned Risk Assessments / Hazard Studies completed
  • HSE Performance Management Reviews conducted with site Executive Management Team (EMT)
  • Revenue and capital budgets planes for HSE
  • Ensure Statutory compliances in accordance with Government regulations
     

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Lead HSE target setting & align policies for AkzoNobel Oman to be in line with the global programmes & plans
  • Cascade the information throughout the AkzoNobel Oman about new / revised policies / directives/HSE Standards and AkzoNobel Oman HSE policies.
  • Identify and prioritize the focused HSE improvement area across the AkzoNobel Oman and continuously drive improvements in the ANO (AkzoNobel Oman) in alignment with the corporate guidelines, such as SAQ, behavior based safety and process safety management programs.
  • Act as the ANO communication link between the Regional HSE Functions, NAMET and various Businesses/Functions within the ANO.
  • Build up the ANO HSE network and organize the functioning of the ANO HSE processes, develop new HSE Procedures/review existing Procedures as per HSE&S Standards and Guidance Notes being issued time to time by AkzoNobel HSE Function, AkzoNobel NAMET so that all functions are enabled to give full conformance to HSE Procedures as applicable to their activities. Keeping in view the diverse range of products, processes, distribution network and correspondingly varied needs of the Business, the jobholder has the responsibility of making suitable recommendations to EMT members for affecting regular improvements in HS&E performance.
  • Drive focused HSE improvement in ANO as per guidance from ME Region HSE Function and NAMET so that full conformance to AkzoNobel HSE Standards and above reference level performance in all sub elements of HSE&S SAQ is achieved.
  • Implement HSE related training, coaching, education for all ANO staff.
  • Maintain regular contact with the external HSE auditors and with the internal HSE organization, coordinate for Corporate / specialist and other 3rd party audits, submit the reports from the external auditors to ANO EMT with improvement areas identified and proposed way forward.
  • Work closely with Business Managers/RND Manager and Product Stewards for ensuring full conformance to Product Stewardship requirements as established by AkzoNobel Global Product Stewardship and RA Function.
  • Collate HSE related data/information; report in EPM.
  • Keep abreast of latest developments in the HSE related matters/legislation and keep EMT fully aware of the latest developments.

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in the chemical industry with a minimum of 3 years in HSE role in heavy chemical industry, Projects or related sectors.
  • In order to succeed in this role, candidates must bring a clear results orientation and a strong “can do” mentality.
  • Should be approachable with good communication skills, Analytical thinking, and20excellent observation skills.
