As a Loyalty Data Science Manager, you will be responsible to define overall strategy and direction for implementing advanced data science techniques in order to provide a competitive edge and drive innovation across Privilege Club (PC).

As a subject matter expert in data science, the role is responsible to provide technical expertise, guidance and training to the rest of your data colleagues. Being at forefront of emerging technologies, techniques and methodologies in data science, enable research and development efforts within the team by exploring new AI algorithms, ML and deep learning models, and the use of new tech stacks. Champion and evolve Data Science practice at PC in collaboration with teams within Qatar Airways Commercial, representing and promoting data science across Qatar Airways operating companies.

Other key responsibilities are:

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyse customer data to identify patterns, trends, and insights that can inform loyalty program strategies and initiatives.
  • Predictive Modelling: Develop and implement predictive models to forecast customer behaviour, such as purchase patterns, redemption rates, and churn, to optimize loyalty program offerings.
  • Segmentation and Targeting: Create customer segments based on data analysis and using these segments to tailor loyalty program benefits, offers, and communications to specific customer groups.
  • Performance Measurement: Define key performance indicators and using data to measure effectiveness of loyalty program, involving assessing customer engagement, redemption rates, and overall program ROI.
  • Data Governance: Ensuring quality, accuracy and privacy of customer data. Implementing data governance policies and practices to comply with regulations and maintain customer trust.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with marketing, product development and customer service teams to align data-driven insights with broader business strategies and customer experience initiatives.
  • Innovation and Experimentation: Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data science and loyalty programs. Experimenting with new approaches, algorithms, or data sources to continuously improve the program’s effectiveness.
  • Communication and Visualization: Effectively communicate complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders through visualizations, reports and presentations. Translating data insights into actionable recommendations for the business.
  • Team Management and Development: Lead and develop a team of data scientists by providing mentorship, setting goals and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Ethical Considerations: Address ethical considerations related to data usage, ensuring customer privacy, and adhering to ethical guidelines when implementing data science solutions in the loyalty program.
  • Work with loyalty operations, systems, marketing and partnerships teams to analyse, through identification and evaluation of data sources within, for example, loyalty, booking, ticketing or passenger data to be used by PC teams to support delivering exceptional member experiences and to deliver revenue.
  • Apply knowledge of data systems to analyse the data structures required to develop new inputs or determine how outputs of these systems can contribute to other data driven solutions.
  • Evaluate other sources of data such as QDF, network planning or industry ticketing data for example; analysing the data to identify indicators of value in passenger purchasing decisions, willingness to pay or PC performance relative to the market in order to determine data points useful for business decisions.
  • Perform analysis on reporting, trends, data quality and system outcomes to improve departmental forecasting techniques where improved forecasts result in better decision making and revenue results.
  • Apply modelling techniques and statistical research skills to test, analyse and evaluate results of data driven approaches for experience and revenue improvement and make recommendations for adoption, adjustment or discontinuation of practice ensuring Privilege Club maintains high levels of quality control over revenue delivery.
  • Work with users responsible for value proposition, marketing, and partnership decisions to analyse their data requirements and contribute to decisions concerning user training, data access, self-reporting for example to ensure efficient processes and quality decision making.
  • Along with IT, data providers, vendors and other QR departments, provide PC expertise relevant to the department’s data needs and sources to contribute to well documented data architecture and ensuring for example compliance with regulations concerning data or scalability to meet future growth in data application

Qualifications

About You

We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join the Loyalty Team.

  • Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree or equivalent is essential.
  • 6+ years of job-related experience
  • Intermediate to advanced technical skills in data science and machine learning, with experience using tools such as Python, R, TensorFlow, and PyTorch
  • Experience in SQL, NoSQL, SAS, Anaconda, Databricks or Cloud native services
  • Experience working with a variety of industries, such as Banking, Insurance, Retail & FMCG, Healthcare or Travel & Hospitality etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executives
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data sets and develop innovative solutions to business problems
  • A passion for data science and AI, and a desire to stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in the field, such as GenAI
  • Expert understanding of statistics, operations research, forecasting and optimization methods
  • Expert understanding of IT related topics
  • Excellent understanding of the loyalty business process including e-commerce, Marketing and Sales Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Command of English language.
