  • Summary

Library supervisor coordinates with library director and oversees the operations of one or more specialized library services or areas that serve a wide range of customers and is a key component of library or campus infrastructure. Performs a range of complex and specialized library tasks requiring a high level of professional expertise and customer service skills. Monitors and oversees daily operations and participates in the development of unit operating policies and procedures, systems to maintain unit records, and unit quality standards. Performs a wide variety of general library work in user services to assist students and  faculty members with daily operational needs of the library processing, cataloging, circulating and shelving library materials.

 

  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees, coordinates with Library Director, and/or performs complex integrated activities of a specialized library service or area; plans, organizes, and implements the provision of services.
  • Reviews, evaluates, analyzes and makes recommendations for service improvements and implementation.
  • Creates or participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Implements and maintains service quality and productivity standards.
  • Responsible for project management in specialized library service or area; develops and establishes deadlines, goals, objectives, workflow, and operational procedures.
  • Monitors and oversees daily operations.
  • Responsible for complex problem solving by working with other library departments, vendors and other entities outside the library.
  • May maintain records, equipment inventories, compliance activities, and collection usage statistics
  • May provide training, instruction, liaison services and/or consultation to customers, including students, staff, or faculty in the use of specialized services
  • May oversee building security and facilities management.
  • May hire, supervise and train lower level staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

  • General Conditions:
  • Proficiency in both Arabic and English language, spoken and written.
  • Good command of Computer use, particularly MS office programs.
  • Strong communication skills, courteous and people friendly personality.
  • 2 -5 years related experience,
