As an Inventory Planning Officer, you will work with suppliers and Procurement to specify, control and manage inventory sourcing and stock levels for all in-flight commodities including catering equipment, bond and passenger supplies to ensure that all stock is available at the right time and to the agreed specifications and quality.

As part of your daily responsibilities you will also:

  • Monitor all inventory data and highlight and track required corrective action plans.
  • Be responsible for the production and maintenance of an accurate global equipment stock forecast Assists with the purchase of all equipment, ensuring that there are no out of stock situations.
  • Assist with the global equipment inventory in Doha and all stations overseas, ensuring that all stations have the right equipment at the right time and that inventory is always correctly reflected in the appropriate systems.
  • Update inventory catalogue to ensure it remains up to date at all times.
  • Assist with the introduction of new equipment, including the timely withdrawal and disposal of the obsolete stock
  • Support with the Equipment section of the Qatar Airways Catering Services Handbook.
  • Assists with the new stock as it is received to ensure that it matches the agreed specification, taking corrective action where required.
  • Work with suppliers to reduce logistic costs and find the optimum solution for the transportation and location of equipment and the management of Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) with Procurement to balance cost versus quantity.
  • Monitor performance of equipment in use to ensure it performs as planned and expected.
  • Manage internal product development and purchase approvals process such that it runs on time and that Catering Services remain within governance.
  • Take care of obsolescence management and write-off approval process by ensuring that all options are considered to keep cost at their lowest possible levels.
  • Investigate, collate and report on all issues pertaining to equipment from Voyage Reports.
  • Coordinate operational relationships with third party sourcing and distribution suppliers in conjunction with Procurement
  • Work with Product Development Department on the development of new products, carrying out tests and trials and providing user feedback to assist with the decision-making process as required.

Qualifications

About You

A successful candidate should possess the following experience and qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / Vocational Qualification with Minimum 4 years of job-related experience ORBachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Fluent knowledge of English, both written and verbal.
  • Expertise in logistics management, stock control and time critical delivery.
  • Experience managing air and sea shipments worldwide.
  • Experience in airline catering inventory management and stock control systems such as Oracle / SAP.
  • Experience with Demand Planning & Forecasting Models.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Mathematical and statistical analysis skills.
  • Advanced planning & forecasting skills.
  • Certification in logistics and planning.
