Responsibilities

 

The Inspection Engineer role will:

  • Report to the Operations Manager with the delivery of all aspects of the oil, gas, marine and other engineering business within the Company, not limited to:
    • Preparation and co-ordination of field work
    • Data management
    • Delivery of completed work-scopes
  • Complete inspection reports using Microsoft PowerPoint and Cyberhawk’s cloud-based, visual asset management solution, iHawk.
  • Edit photographs and video footage.
  • Assess images or video footage for structural defects, damage or hazards.
  • Write technical reports in accordance with client guidelines of Anomaly Acceptance Criteria or equivalent.
  • Work as a field engineer operating a payload control system.
  • Work effectively with drone pilots.
  • Deliver presentations of inspection results when required.
  • Demonstrate risk awareness and significance of safety-critical management systems.
  • Any other reasonable duty as requested.

 

Knowledge and Skills required

 

Essential

  • Engineering Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or Similar relevant discipline with 10 years’ experience OR Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering discipline with 15 years’ experience.
  • NDT Level II certification in visual testing.
  • ASME Level 1 Plant Inspector certification.
  • 10- or 15-years’ experience (depending on education as stated above) in Offshore/Plant inspection.
  • Above experience to include inspection of fired equipment, heaters, boilers and flares.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and other conditions causing deterioration or failures.
  • Must be willing to live and work in Qatar and potentially travel worldwide and work away from home.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Full and clean driving license.

 

Desirable

  • OPITO Basic Offshore Safety training.
  • OPITO or equivalent H2S training.
  • Knowledge in basic photo editing and photography: f-stop, ISO, shutter speed etc.
  • Whilst training will be given in the role, experience and knowledge of drones could be beneficial.
