Gross tax whilst in France and the net in Qatar – has to be same day rate for both locations
Job Description – Head of Mechanical Engineering
Part A: Job Specification
Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing mechanical engineering activities in NFW Onshore Project, for packages, ensuring all technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, etc. are in full compliance with project requirements, standardised processes, and are delivered to the highest technical quality standards.
Provide clear guidance to the FEED contractor, sub-contractors and vendors and facilitate resolution of mechanical technical issues to complete mechanical engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones.
During start-up and early operations phases, until the performance tests completion, provide ad hoc field engineering assistance.
Reporting and Relationships
Direct reports: 0
Internal
Frequent contact with NFW & NFS Operations, SHES, Quality and Engineering departments in QE-LNG.
External
Occasional engagement with Shareholder representatives.
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
Carry out technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of mechanical related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact to ensure optimum outcomes to meet technical and execution expectations.
Expertise about static equipment is a must, as well as packages such as desalination, cooling towers, steam boiler, direct fired heaters (Sulfur recovery thermal rector) .

Key Job Accountabilities
Leads mechanical engineering design and planning activities, for Packages, and ensures FEED contractor develops detailed design in accordance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, project specifications and any approved variations.
Resolve mechanical discipline issues to ensure engineering design addresses NFW Project’s expectations and objectives. Communicate and elevate issues before they escalate to Project Management when necessary.
Review technical aspects of Mechanical Packages purchase orders with FEED Contractor and vendors in accordance with the roles and responsibilities stated in applicable contract(s) to ensure safe and seamless integration of new mechanical equipment into the existing operating facilities (when applicable).
Assess plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of project activities and provide data (narrative, charts, graphs), change management recommendations and recovery plans to address any schedule delays.
Develop, update and amend design / project philosophies, specifications and procedures ensuring that all references to Mechanical Engineering are current and relevant.
Monitor and provide guidance to FEED Contractor to ensure key deliverables, progress/milestones are met. Recommend additional technical support where necessary to address gaps.
Coordinate and analyse issues for resolution. Provide Mechanical Engineering input to other engineering disciplines, construction, procurement etc as necessary. Support commissioning, start-up and system completing activities and make appropriate recommendations to management on Mechanical matters.
Plan and schedule Package Mechanical Engineering deliverables to enable efficient execution in meeting project milestones/schedule
Contribute to Safety analysis studies and provide the required input to support project management in key decisions making. Participate in sharing lessons learned, together with capturing current lessons learned to benefit future projects.
