Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Operations is searching for a Financial Analyst to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing financial analysis and reporting, managing budget and forecast planning, and facilitating effective collaboration across teams and projects.
Core responsibilities include:
- Routinely analyze financial data and provide interpretive results, developing reports for senior management.
- Maintain and enhance budget models, perform forecasting and scenario analysis as part of the university’s overall budget process.
- Serve as a key planning liaison between different campus and university teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Proactively support annual independent audit functions and manage audit-related processes.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of financial process documentation, identifying opportunities for process optimization.

You should demonstrate:
- Ability to effectively manage and coordinate information flow to and from auditors, responding promptly to queries during fieldwork.
- Strong skills in financial analysis and reporting techniques, with an emphasis on accuracy and detail.
- Capability to improve key forecast planning, contributing significantly to the management and reporting of these processes.

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. • Years of Experience: 1-2 years of experience in financial analysis or a related field. Candidates with relevant internships in finance or accounting may also be considered.
• Specific Skills and Experience:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to present data and analysis in a clear and persuasive manner.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with proficiency in software tools such as Oracle EPM and Microsoft Excel.
- A combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired may also be considered.
