An Engineering Shift Leader is a professional who leads a team of technicians and engineers responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in a commercial or industrial setting. They oversee the work of their team during a specific shift and ensure that all maintenance and repair tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Engineering Shift Leaders are responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department, including scheduling work assignments, training and mentoring team members, monitoring progress, and ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards. They must also collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and address issues related to equipment and systems, develop and implement solutions to address these issues, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and manage a team of technicians and engineers during a specific shift in a commercial or industrial setting.

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards.

  • Schedule work assignments, train and mentor team members, and monitor progress to ensure that all work is completed on time and within budget.

  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and address issues related to equipment and systems, develop and implement solutions to address these issues, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment and systems.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with equipment and systems, develop and implement solutions to address these problems, and manage complex projects related to equipment and systems

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • First Aid
  • Vocational training in engineering or similar field
