Job Purpose:

 

To support UNITED sites/complex to achieve the targeted maturity level in APC and control. To initiate and support the business improvement and optimization activities in the assigned areas. To coach and support the junior engineers to excel their capabilities and experience in APC and control.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • To reinforce and comply with safety policy and procedures in all technical aspects of the plant through control applications.
  • To initiate maintain the needed EHSS documentations related to APC and control.
  • To support alarm management systems as APC and process control.
  • To engage with MCC PAD domain and APC expert group.
  • To design, implement, and maintain multivariable control applications that are consistent with short and long term operating plans.
  • To configure, tune, and troubleshoot APC performance issues, including maintaining and modifying control applications and operator interfaces.
  • To resolve system availability issues in conjunction CS engineers.
  • To assess and train plants personnel on the use APC application in conjunction with process trainers.
  • To share knowledge and best practices among the various plants.
  • To assist operation expertise in the case of start-up, shutdown, and emergency.
  • To lead UNITED APC run and maintain team.
  • To identify plant’s process control stability opportunities and persuade APC run and maintain to go for them.
  • To conduct monthly benefit analysis for existing APCs and report to SMT.
  • To develop APC procedures and manual as per SABIC maturity model requirements.
  • To ensure adequate documentation systems for site control strategies to maintain the integrity of control strategies.
  • To develop complex APC KPls, and track APC performance against them.
  • To maintain stable operations by stabilizing process control loops performance.
  • To support new APC projects in conducting preliminary benefits analysis, contract review, development, and implementation.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or process Engineering.
  • Basic process control knowledge and training.
  • Exposure to multivariable predictive control software.

 

Minimum Experience:

 

  • 10 years’ experience in Production or Process.
  • Experience in minimum 1 chemical processes of UNITED plants.

Job Specific Skills:

  • Understanding multivariable control strategies.
  • Familiar with multivariable predictive control software.
  • Able to communicate with engineers and shift personnel across the site.
  • Understands current APC system in the complex and its architecture.
  • Team working and team building skills.
