About the role

Work with line management to provide support and direction to implement corporate and regional Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) programs and processes that will ensure full compliance with local EH&S regulations and CARRIER EHS Policy and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

As a EH&S Officer you’ll be responsible for:

  • Ensure business continuity by proactively identifying and managing EH&S aspects, impacts, hazards, and risk. Ensure the mitigation of EH&S aspects, impacts, hazards, and risk in all business decisions through management of change.
  • Provide advice and counsel to field operations on all matters relating to EH&S issues, programs, and systems. Support field operations to implement all the EH&S requirements including the EH&S Operating System, Carrier Lead with Safety Commitments, EHS Standard Practices (SP’s) and Standard Work Instructions (SWI).
  • Conduct EH&S inspections, audits and Risk Assessments at customer sites, company premises (workshops, warehouses, offices) to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and company EH&S Operating System.
  • Ensure that all country regulatory EH&S requirements are known, understood, and properly implemented. Keep abreast of any new/emerging local regulation affecting our operations.
  • Lead and direct the investigation of all accidents/incidents, identify root causes of accidents, and develop corrective action plans and follow-up of accidents, near misses to ensure that effective corrective actions are implemented to prevent repetitions.
  • Ensure that correct and timely reporting of EHS data in company (Enablon) EHS reporting system.
  • Provide the leadership and guidance necessary to achieve integration of EH&S considerations into all aspects of the business. Stimulate a culture of hazard awareness and prevention that drives to Zero incidents.
  • Prepare annual EH&S training plan based on EH&S Risk Assessment and conduct trainings as per the plan. Ensure all new employees undergo EHS Orientation prior to starting the job.
  • Establish and implement contractor EHS qualifying, on-boarding, Training program and audit program.
  • Review monthly supervisor inspections and quarterly management audits reports, follow-up actions to tack to closure.
  • Review regulatory compliance records and report any non-compliance in Enablon reporting system. (Fire, Municipality permits, Forklift license, lifting gear certifications)
  • Ensure full compliance with Carrier EHS policies and Code of Ethics.

Requirements

We are looking for people who has as a minimum you must have:

  • University Graduate BA/ BS degree in Environmental Safety and Health or related degree, or related field.
  • International accredited Certification in EH&S such as NEBOSH or equivalent is preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in managing/leading EH&S in the field.
  • Experience with global corporations and a multicultural working environment.

  • Ability to develop training content and deliver in-person and digitally.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Languages: fluency in English required.
