Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities for PMO projects, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, timeline, and quality standards.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of construction project plans, including resource allocation, scheduling, and risk management strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, including architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, to drive efficient project delivery and quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the PMO team to ensure alignment of construction activities with broader project objectives and strategies.
  • Develop and monitor construction schedules, milestones, and progress indicators, and provide regular updates to project stakeholders and senior management.
  • Manage construction-related procurement activities, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and material sourcing, while ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections and quality control evaluations to verify compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Utilize advanced project management tools and methodologies to drive process improvements and optimize construction workflows within the PMO framework.
  • Interface with regulatory authorities, government agencies, and other external stakeholders to obtain necessary permits, approvals, and ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and construction staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to develop and track project budgets, ensuring cost control measures are in place and adhered to throughout the construction phase.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to proactively address potential project risks and ensure timely delivery.
  • Implement sustainable construction practices and innovative construction technologies to enhance project efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
  • Coordinate with design teams to review and provide inputs on construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage and resolve construction-related issues and conflicts that may arise during project execution, working collaboratively with stakeholders to find practical solutions.
  • Oversee commissioning and handover procedures to ensure seamless transition from construction to operational phases, including coordination of testing, inspections, and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to construction progress, quality, safety, and budget compliance to project stakeholders and senior management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in construction engineering and project management, and incorporate relevant learnings into project strategies and methodologies.
  • Participate in project review meetings, lessons learned sessions, and post-project evaluations to capture insights and drive continuous improvement in construction processes and practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on construction engineering within the organization, providing guidance, training, and support to colleagues and junior team members as needed.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 13 years of progressive experience in construction engineering, with a strong track record of project management within a PMO environment.
  • Proven expertise in managing large-scale construction projects, including infrastructure, commercial, or residential developments.
  • In-depth understanding of project management methodologies, construction processes, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and project teams.
  • Professional certification in project management or construction management is a plus.
