Primary purpose of job
Provide legal support for QatarEnergy’s ship acquisitions and marine transportation activities
related to the commercialization of LNG, crude & other liquid petroleum products,
petrochemicals, chemicals & fertilizers including the negotiation of all agreements related to (i)
the acquisition & disposal of shipping capacity including sale & purchase agreements,
shipbuilding contracts, charter agreements (time, voyage and bareboat), contracts of
affreightment and container feedering contracts; (ii) vessel financing, and (iii) any ancillary
services required plus the administration of those agreements and the management of all
related claims and disputes, including price and charter rate reviviews (“Shipping Activities”).
The Shipping section will be required to support three distinct client groups: (i) QatarEnergy
LNG Marketing; (ii) QatarEnergy Trading, and (iii) QatarEnergy Marketing and Trading.
Experience & Skills
1. JD/LLB (or equivalent) degree at a recognized university.
2. At least ten years’ experience in private practice or in-house, a substantial amount of
which is in relation to Shipping Activities.
3. Strong legal (including drafting) skills.
4. Experience of dealing with regulators and government representatives.
5. Ability to assimilate complex legal matters and to provide practical advice to nonlawyers.
6. Excellent command of written and spoken English. Effective communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player. Highly motivated,
proactive, organized, and self-disciplined.
8. Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
Education
JD/LLB (or equivalent) degree at a recognized university.
