Nurse Supervisor will: 

 

  • Provide clinical guidance, direction and support for all Nurses in Charge, Senior Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, Assistant Nurses and Caregivers in their departments.
  • Ensure that the Nurses are performing accurate and complete admission assessments
  • Ensure high levels of aseptic techniques practices, disinfection, sterilization standards and processes are adhered in all clean areas.
  • Ensure that all relevant clinical areas are running efficiently together with the OT Nurse Manager 
  • Make sure that all clinical areas are staffed accordingly, provide supervision to all personnel in the clinical areas, directs, and assists as required.
  • Train and orientate new employees within their departments and make sure that all are adhering to policies and procedures relevant to their scope of practice 
  • Assist with the clinical supervision and education of staff, advancement of process changes, accountability and responsibility for all patient care activities and daily operations
  • Carry out admissions, discharge and transfers as required
  • Communicate with the physicians within an appropriate timescale, any significant abnormality detected during patient assessment (including blood pressure, pulse, blood glucose, urinary ketones and ECG abnormalities) and follow the hospital protocols and policies accordingly 
  • Immediately participate in any resuscitation efforts in the event of a collapse or cardiac arrests
  • Participate in patient education for all pre-op & post-op instructions for the patients 
  • Immediately reports any incidents within the clinical area to the OT Nurse Manager and acts accordingly
  • Ensure that all equipment used in the clinical areas is safe to use and all in working order. Reports any defaults to the Nurse Manager and Biomedical Department appropriately.
  • Ensure that the Nurses are monitoring and documents the patient’s condition and the effectiveness of care and/or interventions
  • Promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals; acting, as an ambassador for the Hospital is clinical and medical services.
  • Evaluate the Nurses and provides teaching and educational material to the nurses to ensure they perform their assigned roles in accordance to the standards set out by the Hospital.
  • Maintain and demonstrates clinical competence using evidence based practice, nursing knowledge, research and reflective practice in all aspects of patient care including those with complex needs.
  • Ensure that the Nurses are providing patient care within the facility and that it is performed in accordance with established hospital and corporate policies and procedures, following recognized international standards.
  • Ensure Nurses are aware of personal responsibilities in relation to the maintenance of a safe environment and identification of potential risks for all personnel, patients and visitors, taking action as and when required.
  • Ensure that the Nurses are incorporating patient safety processes into clinical nursing care

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Have evidenced experience in managing a number of departments and teams
  • Be able to influence and implement change when necessary
  • Be able to make decisions and communicate effectively
  • Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualification and experience this mandates.
  • Manage their own professional revalidation
  • Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months)
  • Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed
  • Be willing to work across departments and shifts when necessary 
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)

DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:

 

  • Evidenced experience/expertise in the clinical field in which they are employed
  • Evidenced ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the HIS platform for clinical documentation
  • Be able to communicate effectively in Arabic
