What You’ll Be Doing:

Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of quantity surveyors specializing in various disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural.

Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring performance excellence.

Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, and equipment costs, for the Opera House construction project.

Conduct thorough cost analysis and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards.

Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with client requirements and financial objectives.

Manage contract documentation, including tender documents, contracts, and variations, in compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions, ensuring favorable outcomes for the project and minimizing risks.

Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contractual agreements, addressing any issues or disputes that may arise during the project execution.

Provide expert advice and support to project teams on quantity surveying matters, including cost forecasting, cost control measures, and risk management strategies.

Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess progress, verify quantities, and identify potential cost implications or deviations from the project plan.

Collaborate with design and engineering teams to evaluate alternative solutions and mitigate cost overruns or delays.

Participate in project meetings, providing updates on quantity surveying activities, addressing concerns, and proposing solutions to achieve project goals.

 

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field; professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).

Proven experience (minimum 18 years) as a Quantity Surveyor, with a demonstrated track record of successfully leading quantity surveying teams on large-scale construction projects.

Strong technical knowledge of quantity surveying principles, methodologies, and best practices, with expertise in cost estimation, budget management, and contract administration.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Proficiency in relevant quantity surveying software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel, to facilitate accurate cost analysis and reporting.
