The Employee Relations Specialist will act as the central point of contact and subject matter expert for employee relation issues and concerns. The ER Specialist coaches and advises employees and managers on progressive discipline, performance management, conflict resolution, and employment risk matters ensuring a consistent and aligned approach when managing employee relations across the program. He/she will gather detailed, pertinent information by conducting fact-finding interviews and investigations, interpret the findings, prepare documentation, and document & track disciplinary actions taken for corrective action and grievances. He/she will maintain a positive employee relations environment including enabling management capability, oversight of manager’s employee relations activities, maintaining the pulse of employee’s ER experience, and professional handling of issues/cases in accordance with VECTRUS established practices.

  • Helps manage employee relations matters for LC V
  • Provides counsel and guidance to managers and employees regarding company policies and procedures
  • Conducts internal investigations
  • Prepares required legal and Government reports
  • Ensures that all terminations, investigations, and employee relations matters are handled with consistency and fairness and without discrimination.
  • Works with managers and/or employees to address, manage, and resolve employee relations issues, while maintaining confidentiality
  • Handles all ER matters which include, but are not limited to, employee performance, attendance, application of law, policy and procedure, Code of Conduct and compliance, etc
  • Conducts internal investigations locally and through travel to field locations as needed
  • Participates in unemployment hearings as needed
  • Provides and participates in supervisory and employee training.
  • Works closely with the Legal Department and outside counsel to ensure that the company is in compliance with employment law in the administration of company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
    • BS/BA degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or related field.
    • Must be able to obtain a Host Country Driver’s License
  • Experience:
    • Minimum five (5) years of Human Resources disciplines experience required, with three (3) of those being in employee/labor relations including personnel investigations and conflict/complaint resolution and a minimum of two (2) years in an OCONUS contracting environment working in Human Resources is highly desirable.
    • Candidate must also possess proficiency in EEO guidelines, and standard Human Resources policies/practices.
    • Must also be able to work under pressure, manage multiple assignments simultaneously, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Skills:
    • PHR preferred
    • Strong client/customer focus, coupled with a collaborative style.
    • Ability to handle confidential materials/issues, employee files, organizational change, grievances, and performance reviews.
    • Strong attention to detail in composing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, scheduling and meeting deadlines.
    • Ability to interact and communicate well with individuals at all levels of the organization and across cultures including the ability to handle difficult conversations.
    • Ability to build authentic relationships by making oneself available to others and listening to and respecting the perspectives and opinions of others.
    • Must possess excellent writing skills for the purpose of composing/drafting correspondence such as: disciplinary/adverse and performance based actions letters (e.g. reprimands, proposal and decisions for suspensions/removals, and performance improvement plans).
    • Strong influencing skills and the ability to coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues and influence decisions without direct decision making authority.
    • Demonstrated ability to resolve problems or issues by gathering and assessing information, taking advice, and using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
